PACE would like to wish Bill Lovelady a relaxing and enjoying retirement! We interviewed him to hear about his experience as a surveyor at PACE:
Q: You’ve spent most of your career in the field, an experience most of us in the office can’t imagine. What was the weirdest experience you remember?
A: I can’t really think of anything outstandingly weird. Maybe it is all relative. Like Hunter S. Thompson said: “When the going gets weird, the weird get going.”
Q: What have you enjoyed the most about working at PACE?
A: PACE has been very, very good to me. I like that it’s not a ‘one trick pony’ company. There are quite a variety of projects under the civil engineering umbrella; that keeps it interesting, not necessarily fun, but interesting.
Q: What will you miss the most about the Survey Team?
A: The survey team are a great group with a professional attitude. I have worked places where half the field staff really had no interest. They did not see it as a career path, but just a job. To those guys, job was a four-letter word minus one letter.
Thank you, Bill, for your 26 years at PACE. You will be missed in the office and out in the field.
